Each year, owners of vacant parcels within the Central Fire District receive notices to mow/abate weeds on their property before the highest-risk months of the fire season. The Fire District does not act as an intermediary with, endorse or make recommendations for any specific service providers. We recommend looking at directories for local companies, checking with the California State Licensing Board for updated contractor license information, or checking with your local neighborhood group for recommendations.
Each Spring, the Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County provides a free chipping program, available to Santa Cruz County residents who live in areas defined as the Wildland Urban Interface, that have the potential for wildfire to impact their properties. Learn more about this program on the Resource Conservation District website.
