Inspections & Compliance Reporting

To schedule an inspection, please contact our Community Risk Reduction Division at (831) 685-6698.

Central Fire District conducts a number of construction and annual inspections per year. District personnel assist business owners and homeowners in obtaining compliance with fire code requirements for the protection of life and property.

Priority Inspections

Occupancies with higher fire and life safety hazards as well as all businesses new to the community are inspected by Community Risk Reduction staff. Examples of the types of occupancies inspected by fire prevention officers include:

  • Assemblies
  • Hazardous materials facilities
  • Care facilities
  • Factories
  • Restaurants
  • Schools
  • Senior Citizen housing
  • Other buildings that could pose significant risks to its occupants or the public.

Defensible Space Inspections

Although single family residences are generally only inspected upon request, those residences in designated High Fire Hazard areas within the District’s jurisdiction are inspected each spring for compliance with rural fire safety standards.
