Notice Inviting Contractors to be Added to the Qualified Contractor List 

Notice is hereby given that the Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County (the “District”) is registered to participate in the California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCAA), “the Act.” Public projects, as defined by the Act and in accordance with the limits listed in Section 22032 of the Public Contract Code, will be let to contract by informal procedures as set forth in Sections 22032-22045 of the Public Contract Code

Pursuant to the provisions of the California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCAA) and in accordance with Public Contract Code Section 22034, the Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County is inviting all licensed contractors to apply for inclusion on the District’s Qualified Contractor List for informal procurements for the remainder of the 2025 calendar year and the 2026 calendar year. 

The District will use this list to notify contractors of upcoming informal bidding opportunities for public projects between $75,000 and $220,000 during the 2026 calendar year, as authorized under CUPCCAA procedures. Contractors of all trades are invited to apply.

Information Required:

Interested licensed contractors must provide the following information:

  • Company Name
  • Contact Person, Address, Phone Number, and Email
  • California Contractor License Number(s) and Classification(s)
  • Type of Work or Trade Specialty (e.g., General Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Roofing, etc.)
  • DIR Registration Number (required for public works projects)

Contractors may also submit electronically or by mail at any time during the calendar year to be added to the list using the District’s contractor registration form and send it to the above contact.

Notes:

  • Contractors may submit their information at any time throughout the year, but it is recommended to do so before the start of the new calendar year to receive all bid notifications.
  • Contractors must hold a valid California contractor license in the classification of work they intend to perform and be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) to perform public works projects in California.
  • Under California state law, contractors working on public works projects are required to pay their workers prevailing wages and benefits. This requirement applies to all employees working on projects when the total cost of the public works project exceeds $1,000. The prevailing wage rates, which include both hourly wages and benefits, are determined and enforced by the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR).
  • Insurance Requirements:
    Contractors must maintain insurance coverage consistent with the District’s requirements for public works projects, including general liability, automobile liability, workers’ compensation, and employer’s liability. Specific coverage limits, additional insured requirements, and certificate/endorsement instructions are included in the contractor registration form. Contractors must provide proof of insurance prior to commencement of work.
  • This invitation shall also be subject to any and all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
