1984
Live Oak Fire District forms Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) with Soquel Fire District
 
March 21, 1981 – Formal signing of JPA agreement to form the “Central Santa Cruz County Fire Protection Agency."
January 2, 1982 - JPA officially started between Soquel and Live Oak FD.
October 5, 1983 - LAFCO approved Resolution 658 approving the proposed consolidation of both Districts, to be known as “Central Fire Protection District of Santa Cruz County."
October 28, 1983 – Board of Supervisors approved the consolidation via Resolution 520-83.
May 3, 1984 – Last joint board meeting of the Live Oak and La Selva Fire Boards.
July 1, 1984 – Merger between Soquel/Live Oak FD finalizes and becomes fully effective.
1987
Capitola FD joins JPA with Live Oak FD and Soquel FD
 
March 9, 1987 – Capitola Fire Board votes to merge with Central FPD, days after LAFCO rejected city-initiated application to bring Capitola FD under the jurisdiction of the City of Capitola.
March 12, 1987 –  Central Fire Board votes to merge with Capitola FD
May 6, 1987 – After conducting a study on the future of Capitola FD, LAFCO approved a proposal to combine the Capitola and Central fire districts (which then went to Board of Supervisors).
June 2, 1987 – Board of Supervisors holds public hearing regarding the consolidation of Capitola and Central FPD by Resolution 331-47.
October 17, 1987 – Effective date of consolidation, and the first Board Meeting of the combined Central FPD after the consolidation with Capitola FD.
1986
Aptos FD consolidates with La Selva FD to become Aptos/La Selva FPD
 

March 26, 1985 – La Selva FD Board approved agreement to form JPA with Aptos FD, effective May 1, 1985 (to become fully operational by July 1, 1985).

April 2, 1986 – LAFCO adopted Resolution 713, approving the proposed consolidation of Aptos and La Selva FD’s into one District to be known as the Aptos/La Selva Fire Protection District of Santa Cruz County.

April 10, 1985 – New JPA Board Members chosen, with first Board Meeting to be held May 7, 1985.

June 3, 1986 – Board of Supervisors holds Public Hearing to approve consolidation of Aptos FD and La Selva FD by Resolution 202-86.

July 1, 1986 – Official effective date of Consolidation into Aptos/La Selva FPD.

February 4, 2021 - Central FPD and Aptos/La Selva FPD consolidate to become
Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County
