Board of Directors
Central Fire District has a publicly elected Board of Directors consisting of five members. Regular board meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday of the month beginning at 9 am, unless otherwise noted. Meetings are held in the downstairs conference room at the Administrative Office located at 930 17th Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA 95062. Board meetings are open to the public and the public is encouraged to attend.
Meeting agendas are made available to the public at least 72 hours prior to a scheduled regular board meeting in accordance with the requirements of the Ralph M. Brown Act. The agenda is available on our website, at the front desk of the Administration Office, and on the public notice boards of each fire station.
It is the intention of Central Fire District to make Board of Directors meetings accessible to all members of the community. If you have a disability and require a reasonable accommodation to participate in our Board Meetings, please contact the Administration Office at least 48 hours prior to the meeting by calling (831) 479-6842 to discuss your accessibility needs.
Central FD previously had an at-large election system, where voters of our entire District elect the members of our Board. In 2022, to ensure compliance with the California Voting Rights Act, the District converted from an at-large-based election system to a district-based electoral system. This system now divides our District into separate geographic areas, where voters choose their representatives, who must also live in that District representation area.
Residents can input their home address into our Interactive District Map to see what their designated election zone is within the District. The zones that each Director represents can be found in our Board Biographies.
