Central Fire District is now accepting donations of new or gently used toys, kids clothing and baby essentials for the local nonprofit, Hopes Closet of Santa Cruz! Decorated collection bins are located at each of our 7 stations and the Administration office, from now through December 15th, to help them meet the needs of our local children and families in need this holiday season.
While the focus this season is on toys for the kids, Hopes Closet also accepts donations of:
- Clothing (ages newborn to pre-teen)
- Shoes
- Baby blankets
- Baby supplies (bottles, mobiles, diapers, etc.)
- Books
- Batteries (especially AA and AAA)
- Volunteer supplies for the donation center, as listed on their website Wish List.
To donate larger items (cribs, strollers, etc.), we recommend going directly to the Hopes Closet donation center at 2557 Soquel Drive in Santa Cruz. They are open Tuesday through Friday, 10 AM – 2 PM and Saturday 11 AM – 3 PM. You can also donate money directly to Hopes Closet via their website.
Hopes Closet specializes in assisting Santa Cruz County Children, ages birth to pre-teen, who are in foster care or whose families are 1) in crisis, 2) may be experiencing homelessness, 3) are facing financial hardship, and/or 4) are low income. Our District is very happy to be working with this organization to help our local kids thrive and enjoy this holiday season!
