Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County will be holding our First Annual Open House on Saturday, October 15th, 2022, at the Aptos Station at 6934 Soquel Drive, Aptos.
This event will be held from 11 AM – 3 PM, and is free and open to visitors of all ages.
This is a very special Open House for us, as it is our FIRST Open House since the consolidation of Aptos/La Selva and Central Fire Protection Districts, as well as the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week (which runs from October 9-15 this year). The theme for Fire Prevention Week this year is “Fire Won’t Wait – Plan Your Escape!”
We have a number of participating agencies this year, all with activities, demonstrations and displays to promote public safety and disaster preparedness. Red Cross, Salvation Army, American Medical Response, State Parks/Lifeguards, Santa Cruz County Sheriff and SPCA, as well as the CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams) of Santa Cruz County will be there.
We will also have a special raffle at the event with a number of fantastic prizes from local businesses, including Play it Again Sports and Wonderland Toys. 100% of the proceeds for this raffle will go to the Santa Cruz County Fallen Officer Foundation, which directly supports S.C. County First responders and their families in times of crisis.
Some of the fun activities planned for the day include:
- Bounce House & Junior Firefighter Course
- Live Vehicle Extrication Demo
- Visit with Sparky the Fire Dog
- Dunk Tank
- Food Truck Ate3One
- Games & Activities for Children
- CPR Demonstrations
- Tours of Fire Engines, Ambulance and other Emergency Apparatus
A full flyer for the event in English and Spanish is located on our Fire Prevention Week page. We look forward to seeing you there!
