The re-districting process of the Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County has begun. After receiving public oral communication on the possibility of a CVRA violation it was decided that the public interest would be best served by converting from an at-large based election system to a district-based electoral system.
The Central Fire District has chosen National Demographics Corporation to implement the planning, mapping and population data collection/analysis for this process. A number of public workshops will be scheduled to receive input from District residents on this process before final plan revisions are made and adopted.
Detailed information regarding this process can be found at our Re-Districting Information Page.
We will be adding more information as we continue through this process, including information from the National Demographics Corporation and draft maps of the proposed areas. The public is strongly encouraged to attend our upcoming Board of Directors meetings to give input on this process as well. Public Comments on this or any other District-related topic may also be submitted via email at PublicComments@centralfiresc.org.
